  • Basis
    • 'European Customs Union Study Group decides to use Valuation of Goods across the globe in 1949.
    • 'In 1950, Customs Cooperation Council (CCC) was established on 15th December based on the conventions for establishing CCC, the conventions on the commodities classification and the conventions on evaluation in Brussel
    • 'The working name, WCO, has been in use since June of 1994
  • Korea joined WCO in 1968

WCO Regional Bodies (6 regions)

  • WCO have divided its member states into six regions including Asia Pacific, East and Southern Africa, North of Africa, Middle East, West and Central Africa, Americas and Europe. Each region carries out activities tailored to its needs.
  • Asia Pacific Chair: Indonesia (2 year term: July 2020 ~ June 2022)
    • Meeting: every year
    • Member states: 33 members in Asia Pacific region

  • The number of member states is 180 as of December of 2015 18 conventions and agreements including Revised Kyoto Convention which is the biggest issue at the present
