Last year, Korea has set out a new vision, ‘Dynamically Innovative Korea Customs Service for Forward-Leaping Korea as a Global Pivotal State’ and is redesigning policy and roles in the area of international cooperation.
This year marks the 20 anniversary of the FTA signing for Korea. While Korea Customs is making ‘Development Strategy for Future’ in the era of FTA 2.0, international seminar, joined by 37 major contracting parties, has been carried out. It was a valuable opportunity to share our knowhow on how Korea Customs has expanded the scope of its activities to the global market through FTA signing for the last 20 years.
What is more, EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will apply in its definitive regime from 2026 and new global commerce regulations have started to emerge recently. To this end, Korea Customs will support our businesses to readily respond to this issue by establishing tailored customs strategies, policies, supply chain map for each item, carbon emission management system and carrying out R&D projects.
Korea Customs has been also enhancing global customs network and striving to create mutually beneficial trade environment while offering latest news and trend to traders. Support team was organized and dispatched to minimize clearance errors and help our businesses in the area of clearance disputes.
Korea Customs is actively working with the World Customs Organization to secure trade facilitation and security, conducting ODA projects and delivering various programmes through cooperation fund. This includes modernization projects for customs administration and e-clearance system in developing countries along with capacity building activities for customs officers to contribute to mutual growth and advancement of the global society.
