Korea Customs has seen significant performance in stopping drug smuggling by achieving the goals of Korean government policy.

Staff reshuffling and expanding workforce will enable airport customs office to put dedicated focus on drug enforcement. Joint enforcement activities were carried out in collaboration with customs authorities of major drug-transit countries and officers were bilaterally dispatched for deeper cooperation. Also, we mobilized resources to prevent drug smuggling with the use of new technologies and seized record amount of drugs.

Korea Customs will be enhancing international cooperation, inter-agency partnership and air-tight enforcement on high-risk areas to prevent the inflow of illegal drugs in 2024.

In particular, we will be conducting stronger inspection on hand-carry baggage and seizing hidden drugs not to violate the rights of passengers, leveraging new equipment.

Moreover, we will acquire data on smugglers from relevant agencies home and abroad and strengthen border control on high-risk dealers. In line with this, international cooperation activities will be constantly delivered with major drug-supplying countries.
